Thursday Night 3's Standings Please scroll down for complete NFBV interview with AVP Pros Mike Lambert & Stein Metzger! Our coed adult 4's league plays at 6PM on Monday nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Our playing facility is located at Breakwater Beach in Mattituck, LI, NY , on the shore of the LI Sound at the mouth of the Mattituck Inlet. The Breakwater Beach volleyball facility site was selected and designed by organization founder Mike Ryan in 1998. It features 4 beach front courts with pro level nets & hardware owned & maintained by NFBV. North Fork Beach Volleyball is registered with the State of New York as a non profit group promoting beach volleyball. Over the past 11 years we have organized youth clinics, recreational & competitive leagues, tournaments & special benefit events. In 2005 our events raised over $2,800 for local causes. Our events are held from Memorial Day-Labor Day at Breakwater Beach in Mattituck, L.I., NY. NFBV is also officially sanctioned by AVPNext. Thanks for visiting our site and please patronize our generous sponsors! Teams are seeded according to regular season standings. The handicapped seeded schedule shall remain exactly the same throughout the season (with rotating court assignments), as long as there are 15 teams. Weekly tie breakers are first decided by head to head records, then by strength of schedule rating, then by a coin toss. The strength of schedule rating calculated by multiplying the number of games played in a given pool by a predetermined factor. Factors: pool #1=3, pool #2=2, pool #3=1. For example: if team z plays 4 games in pool #1, then (4 ga) x (3)= 12 s/s rating. For the invitation tournament seeding only, ties will be broken by playoff games. Head to head records and strength of schedule ratings are only relevant to determining the weekly pools and not the invitational seeding draw. Regular season tie breaking procedure: -2 way ties will be settled by head/head playoff games to 11 pts, cap at 13 pts. -3 way ties will be settled by playoff games. A bye will be earned by the team with the best head/head records over the other teams. Strength of schedule will only be a factor when the head/heads are tied. 11TH Annual NFBV Invitational Tournament Results from 8-27-06 Traditional end of North Fork Beach season event. The interview took place immediately following their Brooklyn Open win on August 20, 2006. The following are some excerpts from that interview. Ryan: Does your win today and taste of the Big Apple offer some relief from last week's disappointing loss at Manhattan Beach, CA? Lambert: Well...,Manhattan was a tough loss for us. But winning the first ever AVP event in NYC is special. We're starting to focus on the '08 Olympics in Beijing and hopefully this will put us on a roll. Jake and Rosie gave us a good match today and we were up for the challenge. Stein: Yeah, Manhattan was rough but this week's a different story. We felt really good all weekend and felt like we played our best game today. Mike's right, we're starting to look towards Beijing in '08 and we'd like to play as consistently as we did this past weekend leading up into the qualification process that starts next year. Ryan: What did you think of the NYC atmosphere for an AVP event? Lambert: It was fun and different than most other places we play. Yesterday we hit Nathans down the boardwalk and had some famous dawgs, that was cool. The fans showed up late to the matches but when they showed up they made themselves known. It was really fun to hear some loud cheers with the NY accents, something we usually don't hear much on tour. Stein: Yeah, in the morning we were all like where is everyone? We didn't draw the same size crowds as we do in CA, but they were every bit as loud as a larger sized crowd. It seems like everything gets going a little later here, but once they got there it was really cool to play in front of such boisterous fans. They were dramatically different from the fans in CA, not afraid to yell out anything. They also seemed somewhat taken aback by the access that our sport offers. Lambert: It was really funny to hear things like: "Yo Lambo, Howya Doin?" We had a blast. |
